Gracie Mae Harris Brown, was born October 28, 1930, in Lapine, Alabama to Watson Harris and Addie Belle Thomas Harris. Gracie accepted Christ ata young age. Gracie attended public schools in the Lapine/Luverne Alabama areas and enjoyed her studies. Gracie enjoyed family outings as a child and loved hanging out with her sisters as a young teenager. Gracie was employed with Ascension Hospital on the eastside of Detroit, as a Dietician, and was loved by her co-workers and the patients alike. Gracie retired after over 20 years of service in the medical field. Gracie moved to Detroit Michigan as a young woman and she was joined in holy matrimony with husband Eugene Brown, who preceded her in death. Though no children were born to this union, Gracie adored her nephews Ramond, Deshon, Carlos, and Gary, as well as her niece Lynette and played a big part in helping theirwidowed father raise them in their young formative years. Gracie enjoyed listening to music, playing cards, and family get-togethers. Gracie was known for her love of baking, and she did so from scratch. In her later years, Gracie received a puppyfrom her nephew Ramond for companionship, and she really loved her American Bull dog we called Sugar due to her pure white coat of fur. Gracie nick-named Sugar "Mistake" because in the beginning she thought Ramond was leaving her with her by mistake. They became close companions and she would sit by Gracie's side daily as they looked out of the kitchen window, watching the neighbors go by. Gracie departed this life on August 12, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents Watson and Addie Belle, her spouse Eugene Brown, and her siblings: Armena Scott, Willie/Annie Harris, James Harris, Robert Harris, Maybelle, Bernice Nelson, Ella Stokes. Gracie leaves to cherish her memories: Sister Betty Stringer, beloved nephew Ramond Harris that took care of her in her final years, also nephews DeShon, Carlos, Dion and DeAngeIo Harris that also played a part in her care before she was admitted to a nearby nursing home in Dearborn, Ml; and a host of other nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
