Alexa Jo Lewis was born on June 18, 1935 in Coushatta Louisiana to Booker Vanderbilt Miller(Daddy Booker) and Mary Flowers Miller. God also blessed her with an endearing bonus mom, Eva Dell Grant Miller. She was the youngest of five children, all of whom proceeded her in death; EllaFaye Bonner, Leroy Grant, Ophelia Miller, and Clara Mae Russell.
She was a graduate of Springville High school in Coushatta La in 1954. She later moved to Detroit Mi, where she accepted Christ and met the love of her life Lawerence Bennie Lewis II. Alexa joined the New Canaan C.O.G.I.C under the leadership of the late Elder Walter Howard Sr. Which later transitioned to Faith Ventures Ministries under the leadership of Elder Walter Howard jr. Holding many titles throughout her ministry which included YWCC Great Lakes Jurisdiction of Michigan, Sunday school teacher, church mother, founder of Speak A Word Ministries. Alexa enjoyed making plays for her church and engaging with the children of the church. She loved attending all the conventions and was a very loving church mother and she loved the Lord. Staying before God, she was a mighty Prayer Warrior.
Alexa was a manager at many goodwills. She worked as a midwife where she had the privilege to deliver babies. Alexa also loved working alongside her best friend Gwendolyn Cooper Green at Rich Drug Pharmacy for many of years. Mother Lewis was also a certified EMT. She performed many duties at many hospitals in Detroit, which included Michigan Health Center and Southwest Hospital. In those times Alexa loved to travel and take road trips with her husband and family. No matter where they were going she made sure she fried some chicken for the road!! She loved her family! Near and far!
In 2001, becoming a Caregiver to her “son” Thomas Grier— where they remained together until her untimely departure. Before her transition to glory, she was a faithful member to Bethlehem Judah Church under leadership of Apostle Eric L Howard.
Mother Alexa Lewis was proceeded in death by her husband Lawrence Bennie Lewis, her parents, her sisters, her son(Donald Wayne) and her daughter (Monica Moore) and her three great grandsons (Amari, Ashton and Kayden). She leaves to cherish her precious memory: her children; Gregory(Kim), Alexis(Andre), Lawrence III(Michelle), Reginald(Dana), and her baby girl Cheryl(Damon).
She leaves to cherish her precious memory: 25 Grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, Godchildren; Velesa, Angela, Clarence jr. and Terrance. 3 devoted nieces; Patricia Turner, Charlotte Barnes, and Mary Lee. Mother Lewis also leaves behind her special cousins Shirley Neal, and her Flint family.
Special friends; Gwendolyn Cooper-Green, Carolyn Chalk, Charlotte Bryant Johnson, and Cheryl Watt.

And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
