MRS. EDNA EARL SARGENT's Obituary
“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord!” Edna Earl Sargent affectionately known as “NaNa”, age 88, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday July 20, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born July 26, 1934 to the union of the late Lundy and Fannie Gunn in Egypt, Mississippi. Edna attended Chickasaw County Public Schools and relocated to Muskegon, Michigan to be the caregiver for her sister. At the age of 19, she received the holy ghost and was baptized at Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church in Muskegon Heights, Michigan by the late Bishop William Burrell. She served on the usher’s board, choir, missionary auxiliary board, and kitchen committee. Edna met and married the love of her life, Leon Sargent II, to this union they were blessed with 10 wonderful children They were also together for 49 years until his demise. She later joined Greater Anointing Apostolic Faith Church under the leadership of her daughter Pastor Yvonne Crawford and served as the mother of the church.
She enjoyed fishing, cooking, joyriding in the neighborhood, helping others, dancing, inspiring and spreading the word of God to others but most importantly spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Edna was a faithful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, friend. She was strong in her faith and was a prayer warrior. Edna loved the Lord with her mind, body and soul. Even when her health began to decline, she would press her way to the house of the Lord. She was loved by many, from the church, throughout the neighborhood everyone called her “NaNa”. Edna was a loving and caring person to everyone. She will be missed.
Edna leaves to cherish in her precious memories her children, Leon (Carol) Sargent Jr., Yvonne (Freddy) Crawford, William (Kristi) Sargent, Irene Sargent, Wilbur Sargent, Carol (William) Baker, Alvin Sargent, Linda (Paul) Briggs, Anthony (Andrea) Sargent, and Rita Sargent. Godchildren: Gwendolyn Pendelton, Elder Claude Carter, Leroy (Teresa) Moore; (60) grandchildren, (130) great grandchildren, (10) great- great grandchildren; (1) sister, Sally B Thorton; sister in laws, Emma Jena Sargent and Marva Jo Sargent; brother-in-law, Roston Sargent; special friends, Laura Kitchen and Lovie Wright; special niece, Monsensa Shepard, Gloria Handcock; special nephew, Bishop Bobbie Henderson and Ricky Gunn; her loving caregiver Ashanti Johnson; an a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lundy and Fannie Gunn; husband, Leon Sargent Sr.; (14) siblings, (1) granddaughter, Treasure Johnson and (1) great grandson Mark Lumpkins
