JD Moore was born on March 22, 1937 in Sibley, Louisiana to Maggie Lee Moore. He accepted Christ at an early age, joining the Mt. Pero Baptist Church also known to many as the “family’s” church.
As a young man, he migrated to Detroit, Michigan where joined Mt. Morgan Church of God in Christ and worked as a faithful servant. It was on the 30th June 1963, that JD was united in holy matrimony to Missionary Teretha M. McDay, who has preceded him in death. They were married for 56 years and devoted a lifetime of service for the Lord. To this union two children were born; one son, Jarvis D. Moore and one daughter, Shewanna P. Moore.
JD was a God-called man, ordained to preach God’s Word. He was consecrated as Pastor of True Vine Church of God in Christ, from 1970 – 1974 with his wife working alongside him as he pastored. The couple then joined in fellowship at Sion National Church of God in Christ, until year 2000. He later was united with Landmark Church of God in Christ where he continued his faithful servanthood under the pastorage of Elder Curtis M. Ball.
He was a hardworking man with a great sense of humor. An entrepreneur who enjoyed various endeavors. A caring and giving man known for his willingness to help others. He enjoyed various puzzles and brain teasers including the infamous Rubik’s Cube. Among his other joys were singing, playing the guitar, bicycle riding with his children and talking about the Word of God.
