Joeanna Ross “Mama Dill”, a family matriarch, passed on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at the age of 96 years old. Beloved wife of the late Robert Ross.
Predeceased by her parents Spurgeon and Rose Cross; grandparents Kennard and Eliza Ferguson; children Virginia Stewart (late Orran), Rosemary Wheeler, Ruth Davis (late Charles), Patrica Harris and Eugene Virgiles Jr.; grandchildren Thomas Johnson, Charles Brown Sr., Nathan Johnson and George Mixon Jr.; great great grandchildren Alex Minor Jr. and Jamar Quinn Jr.; siblings Geneva Cross, Nathaniel Cross, Earl Cross, Alberta McCrimon, Spurgeon Cross Jr. and Berda Mae Cross; aunts Mariah Ferguson, Lillie Mae Hall, Maggie Hardy and Malinda Ferguson.
Beloved mother of Robert Johnson Jr. (Barbara), Louise Mixon (late George), Johnnie Mae Wright (late Will Sr.), Gladys Bell (Charles), Elnora Virgiles, Joseph G. Virgiles (Bernita), Bobby Virgiles (late Yolanda), and Nathaniel Virgies (Elizabeth). Beloved godmother of Linda Selman-Sims. Beloved grandmother of four generations of grandchildren. Beloved sister of Roberta McCall, Carrie Cross and Perry Cross (Sandra). Survived by many nephews, nieces, other family and friends.
Mama Dill’s endless love and spirit will live on throughout her entire family. She will be truly missed!
