MR. LEON WAGONER SR's Obituary
Leon Wagoner, Sr., age 90, departed this earthly life on September 5, 2022. Leon was born July 3, 1932 in New Madrid, Missouri, son of the late Benjamin and Roberta Wagoner. Leon’s was educated in the Detroit Board of Education System. Leon , formerly a member of Palestine Missionary Baptist Church (Detroit, MI) currently served faithfully for many years as a member of New Providence Baptist Church. Leon was previously married to Delores Hudson. Leon, later married the love of his life, Estella Winters. Leon, began his employment as a paperboy for the Detroit . Leon later became a delivery driver for the Borden’s Milk Company. Leon mastered the skill of an Electrician Journeyman and maintained employment for 50 years with General Motors, until he retired. Leon enjoyed ALL sports. He was an active member of the Detroit General Bowling Team, a committed fan of the Detroit Lions and the Detroit Pistons.
Leon leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Estella W. Wagoner; his eight children, Leon J. Wagoner, Jr., Sandra “Sandy” Wagoner, Tonya Williams, Brenda Williams, Christopher Leon Wagoner, Tina Owens and Nicole Owens, two stepdaughters Anita and Nakisha, a loyal nephew, Aaron; four sister-in-laws, Helen Branch; Ernestine, Cynthia (Roger) and Leoma “Tiny”; one daughter in law, Priscilla Wagoner; two son-in-laws, Darrel and Lyndell his dedicated prayer partner, Sis. Denise Coleman and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Leon is preceded in death by his mother, Roberta Wagoner and his father Benjamin Wagoner, three sisters, Fannie Jones, Gwendolyn Stokes and Pearl; two brothers, Ardell Wagoner and Richard Stokes; two sons, Archie Eugene Wagoner and Leon Wagoner, II. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at the Clora Funeral Home (East Chapel) 5801 East Seven Mile Rd, Detroit, MI. The Homegoing Service honoring Leon Wagoner, Sr. will be Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 10:30am (Visitation 10:00am – 10:30am) at New Providence Baptist Church, 18211 Plymouth Rd, Detroit, MI 48228.
