Birth date: Jun 11, 1945 Death date: Apr 14, 2022
Coach Dozier was a dedicated educator and coach who was a mentor to countless young men . I worked with him several years at Detroit Mackenzie and watch him grow from a teacher and coach to athletic director . Coach players were very focus in the classroom and followed his direction as putting in hard work and pride . Coach Dozier was my coworker, fraternity brother and friend . I remember when he would be on the Alabama State University Alumni Bus going to Montgomery to see ASU play Tuskegee .I want to say to the family to cherish the fond memories you have of Coach Dozier and allow this to uplift you . He may be gone from here but he will be forgotten .
Sincerely , Larry Houser coworker/ friend
It really hurts and is so sad to hear of Coach Robert Dozier's passing! Sending sincere condolences with prayers to his family, as well as to the Stags Nation. This great Mackenzie Stags and PSL Coaching Legend was a good friend to many and will be sorely missed. So very thankful for his coaching, mentoring, sharing, caring and longtime friendships🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽💙🏈
Coach Dozier came directly from Olivet College to Mackenzie in 1969; he immediately became a guiding force who helped lead Mackenzie High School through some very difficult times, both on and off the football field.
I will never forget when Coach paused our viewing of (the WHS) game film in October, 1975. Coach took note of how I had stepped-up to protect the quarterback when out PAT attempt went awry.
“Greene”, Coach announced to the team....”son, you just won a varsity letter”.
Coach Bob Dozier put the “Mighty” in the Mighty-Mighty Stags; he positively impacted many-many lives, and he will be dearly missed.
