MR. STEVEN ARMANDO BRYANT's Obituary
Steven (Steve) Armando Bryant was born on April 23, 1959 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Laura Elizabeth and William Charles Bryant. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The Bryant family relocated to Detroit, Michigan when Steve was at the age of 8. He graduated from Murray Wright High School and began working at Revere Steel. Shortly afterwards, Steve decided to further his education and enrolled at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri to follow his passion and study music. While attending college, Steve met “the love of his life”, Marsha Diane Sledge and they united in holy matrimony. They were blessed with two delightful children.
On January 11, 1984, Steve began employment at the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Department of Public Safety later retiring July 1, 2011.
Steve immensely enjoyed listening to music, particularly jazz and old school classics. He enjoyed playing the trombone, tuba and bass guitar; but the bass guitar was his passion. Playing in jam sessions around town was his thing. He was even more passionate about cooking where on several occasions he owned barbeque trailers from which he sold his infamous ribs, fish, and chicken along with scrumptious sides. Steve was widely known for his cooking to the degree that he was often sought after to cook for local events. Sometimes, he traveled domestically to cook for family reunions and other special functions. He was very fond of taking very long walks to take in nature.
He shared his love for grilling those infamous ribs with his masonic lodge for both fundraisers and in fellowship. Steve was “raised” in Capital City Lodge # 9 in Jefferson City, MO (MWPHGLMO). His masonic journey included work within his local masonic lodge; and, in addition, he was raised as a sublime prince of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of the 32nd degree in Queen City Consistory # 109, and was a proud member of Corinthian Chapter #9, Order of the Eastern Star, Harmony Grand Chapter (PHA).
Steve simply loved his family and he visited them as often as he could. He was notorious for “just showing up” at gatherings whether he was invited or not. This pattern continued until his health would no longer allow him to travel.
Serving the Lord and attending church services was of ultimate importance to Steve. Most recently, he was a member Victory Church of the Mid-South, in Marion, Arkansas, where he faithfully served on the greeter ministry. However, playing the bass guitar during services alongside other church musicians meant the world to him. Missing church services on Sundays was not optional, so he went to church whenever possible and wherever he was.
Steve peacefully departed this life on Sunday, September 14, 2025 surrounded by his loving immediate family.
Steve will be greatly missed and never forgotten by his children Aaron and Khristen Bryant, his grandchildren, Aryanna, Kameron, and Victoria, great-grandson Merrick, siblings Victor Bryant, Sr. (Cynthia), Constance Bush (Joseph), Cecile Bryant, and Gwendolyn Bryant, all of Michigan, and Wallace Bryant (Sandra), of Griffin, Georgia, his devoted friends, Diane, of Horn Lake, Mississippi, and Van Mitchell and family of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and a host of family, friends and loved ones.
