To The Family of Willie "Bro" Netters,
My heart goes out to the family. Bro was like a son to Tommie & me. We continued our close relationship over many years, and we were sooo close. We talked about everything, including our families, The Detroit Lions, and the Pistons. He meant so much us and is he was one of the most generous persons you could ever meet. He talked about his children and grand children all the time. Even though I moved to Montgomery, we never missed a beat in all these years. My family would always ask about him. I'm devastated at his passing, but at least now he's absent from the body and present with the Lord. I'm much too broken up to write this by myself, so I had to lean on family to type for me. My prayers are with the family.
May God bless the family, and all who loved him as we did. May his soul "Rest In Peace", God Bless!
Love Mom Harlan
I remember back in the late 60s early seventies, we had a lot of fun being young and all,
meeting you thru my cousin willie Harlan. and boy your were a big guy back then, and in great shape and you always took good care of yourself. even though as we grew older and moved on, you left an impression that will last a life time. and may the lord continue
to bless the netters family as they go through these times.
R. I. P. " BRO " BROTHER FOR LIFE
ROD WESTBROOK
We met on Cherrylawn St in Detroit in about 1969. Cherrylawn had a very strong block club, and everyone knew each other, nothing like things are today. We all noticed this very athletic new guy on the block. He was exercising doing jumping jack, push-ups, lifting weights, and the whole nine every day in the front on the "Malone" household. Us as kids, played all kinds of sports, baseball, football, basketball, and things all the time, so we all noticed him quickly. Everyone wanted to recruit him on their team, because her was so athletic, and in better shape than all of us. So we all offered an olive branch to him, and we all became friends, and began calling him "BRO". Once we all introduced ourselves, and he and I noticed that we both notice that we had the same name "Willie", with the same spelling, we began calling each other brothers. There we began a life long relationship as brothers. He met my parents, and started calling them Mom (Maudine Harlan) and Dad (Tommie Harlan), and became a part of our family, getting to know our entire family, everyone Cousins, Friends, Uncles, Aunts, etc., as a son and brother. The relationship continued especially strong and close with my parents, mostly my Mom . My mom eventually became a sports fan, and they would talk on the phone very often about the Detroit teams The Lions, Pistons, and Tigers, ups and downs. They spoke about news, events, family members, friends, and so many things almost all the time. Willie "Bro Netters, will always be my brother, and my parents son, and he will be surely missed, especially by my Mom, since he called her affectionately Mom. He was such a generous and kind person, and loved his family, especially his children, and grandchildren. He was what is called a Man's Man. A real man that showed his love to all that he touched in his life. We will always love you and never forget you! R.I.P., "BRO", our brother for life!
